Perham Sportsman’s Club Hosts Fishing Experience for Empowering Kids

The Empowering Kids organization recently held an evening cookout at the Perham Sportsman’s Clubhouse. Craig Swanson and Nick Theroux then took the kids fishing on area lakes the following day, June 26. The mission of Empowering Kids is to empower children, families, and the community by providing support and resources to those with autism or social challenges. 
 
“They thoroughly enjoyed the day out fishing,” said Heidi Solberg, Program Specialist for Empowering Kids. “Our individuals had hours of dignity, purpose, and most importantly, happiness. Captains Craig and Nick taught the kids about catch and release fishing with cheers from the boats when fish were caught. A very sincere thank you to the Perham Sportsman’s Club for sharing their resources, knowledge and time with us.”
 
With this type of positive support from members and the community, the Perham Sportsman’s Club plans to continue to grow, making a significant and positive impact in the Perham and surrounding areas.
