Summer Fly Fishing Event
Pine to Prairie Fly Fishers Club

Time: 9:00 am – Evening
Pine to Prairie Fly Fishers Club in conjunction with the Upper Midwest Council of Fly Fishers International will be having their annual summer fly fishing event on Saturday July 7, 2018 at Orwell Dam Recreation Area. The event is open to anyone interested in the sport of fly fishing. This is a great opportunity to hone your casting skills or if you’re new to the sport of fly fishing learn some new skills from area veteran fly anglers. Certified Casting Instructors Todd Heggestad and Lyth Hartz from the Upper Midwest Council of Fly Fishers International will be providing fly rod casting instruction.
9:00 am: Fly fishing knots and Fly Rod Set-up if needed
9:30 am: Fly fishing tips for smallmouth bass on the Ottertail River
10:00 -11:30: Fly Rod Casting Instruction with Todd Heggestad & Lyth Hartz
11:30 – 12:30: Lunch
12:30 – dark: Fly fishing
Extra funds will be used by Pine to Prairie Fly Fishing chapter to promote the sport of fly fishing in our region.
Kids are free but must be accompanied by an adult.

Our Women’s Fly Fishing Workshops provide an opportunity for first-time fly fishers as well as more experienced anglers to learn and enjoy the sport of fly fishing. We will cover the necessary steps to set-up your fly rod, fly fishing knots, fly selection and basic fly rod casting skills needed to enjoy a day on the water. Combine all that with the practice of playing, landing and releasing fish and this workshop puts women anglers in a great position to experience a lifelong journey of enjoyable days on the water.
Cost: $75 each or $125.00 for two people so bring a friend and save!
Each Workshop is limited to 10 participants
Location: Glendalough State Park – From the town of Battle Lake, go 1.5 miles north on State Hwy. #78 and 1.8 miles east on Ottertail Co. Hwy #16 to the park entrance.

Learn to Fly Fish Classes
Want to learn the sport of fly fishing? Here is an introductory class designed to get you started in the sport of fly fishing. Fly fishing is a great way to fish not only trout but big pike, small and largemouth bass and panfish. You will learn about selection and proper use of equipment and accessories along with casting principles. Participants will learn the basic principles of fly casting, reading water, fly selection, entomology, knot tying and rigging, equipment, and where to fish locally and across the US. After this class, students will be all set to hit the water. This class welcomes those who have never fly fished before and are looking to start or anyone looking to refine your skills. Students are welcome to bring their own equipment, but equipment can be provided as well.This class meets 3 sessions and includes a fishing trip to conclude the class to practice some of the skills you have learned. Class size is limited to the first 6 people that sign up so call today!!
